WE ARE Motown Lacrosse

Our Mission
We are on a mission to grow the game of lacrosse for youth in the city of Detroit. By offering affordable, community based programming, Motown engages with Detroit youth ages 8-18, teaching the sport of lacrosse and its various modern forms (field lacrosse, box lacrosse, sixes) with an uncompromising commitment to promoting diversity in the sport, guided by the indigenous roots and spiritual teachings of the game. Lacrosse is an indigenous game, first and foremost, and Motown is committed to educating the local Detroit community of the true origins of the game while growing access to the sport widely for all Detroit youth to enjoy, layering on greater community engagement and academic enrichment opportunities within our programming.

The Vision
For us, the vision could not be clearer. We see a Detroit, teeming with lacrosse programs on all sides of the city. Neighborhoods, where its commonplace to drive down the street or pass by a local park to see pick-up games, a casual toss, or a player honing their craft on a wall, dodging cones, or working on their shot. Simply put envision a future where all Detroit youth have access to safe, supportive and intentional lacrosse programming that allows them to learn the sport, compete with their peers, and engage with their community without financial barriers.

Lacrosse
Lacrosse. The "Medicine Game". What we do, what we play, what we're committed to growing here in the city of Detroit. Start young, or find the game later on we have programs and opportunities for you to engage, play, and most importantly, have fun.

Opportunity
Opportunity. Layering on academic enrichment activities through neighborhood partnerships. Inspiring new career pathways, fostering creativity and exposure to what exists in our own backyard and beyond.

Community
Community. Who we are at our core. Wherever we go, we aim to create a space where all feel welcome and all feel connected to both this game and one another. Detroit is our home, but our community extends beyond city limits. Come once or stay for a while, you'll always have a place to call home with Motown Lacrosse.
